Exercise on Nutrition Enhanced Permaculture Design (NEPD)
You have now had a chance to think about NEPD – now is your chance to consider your own project.
EXERCISE: How well is your Permaculture project applying NEPD?
AIM: to understand the current aspects of the project that are Nutrition Enhancing and to think about new activities.
PARTICIPANTS: This exercise may be carried out initially by the Project Staff then with other stakeholders and the project participants.
How is your initiative applying NEPD currently and do you have any plans to introduce these aspects? Note- not all of these items in the checklist will be needed for all projects. This is where your Nutrition Problem and Solution Tree exercise can be useful to prioritise the most relevant activities to focus on. Can you add to the list?
For an example of a similar exercise see the example of Conservation Agriculture and Nutrition in Zambia
And a similar exercise in Nepal

Having developed a draft completed table, each of the checklist items can be discussed with project participants to facilitate discussion on the importance of each item and what can be introduced as additional activities to the existing PC project.
The following table can be downloaded and filled in off-line as necessary.
