Change Pathways Mapping is a practical approach to eliciting and documenting the underlying Theory of Change of your project. This course is designed for established projects but can also help new projects at the planning and visioning stage. It is especially useful for projects which are multi-faceted and integrated, as many community-based permaculture and agro-ecological projects are.
This course, Do: Change Pathways Mapping, is the third in a series of three linked courses. During this course you will create a Change Pathways Map for your permaculture project or organisation.
We recommend that you complete the first two courses before starting this one.
- Discover: Change Pathways Mapping. During the first course you will discover what a Change Pathways Map (CPM) is, learn the benefits of having one for your project, and see some examples. By the end, you will know whether you want to create your own CPM.
- Discover: Kumu mapping tool. The second course shows you how to use a free digital tool (Kumu) which you can use to make a CPM. By the end of that course you will be ready to start making your own map.
- Do: Change Pathways Mapping. This course is a step-by-step guide to creating a CPM for your project or organisation, using the Kumu tool. By the end of this course, you will have made your own CPM.
You will need to invest several hours to work through these three courses and to complete the activities to create your map. Previous participants report that the results are well worth the effort!
The process and the resulting map will be a foundation for developing or enhancing an impact or Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning (MEL) plan for your project or organisation, and for understanding your project’s intended impacts.
